Yeah, not so grand. The website and Expedia touted this place as newly renovated which was true enough in regards to the lobby. The rooms were very outdated and the shower curtain liner was filthy, but the rest of the room was clean and we slept soundly. We were also promised an on-site Starbuck's, "the only one in the area," but it was closed everytime we walked by it - very lame. Do yourself a favor and either stay at El Tovar in the Canyon park or just make the Grand Canyon a day trip from Sedona.
The dining room has very nice views of the canyons. They try to give off a fancy vibe, but we were fine in our casual gear. The menu had many tasty options and we chose a cheeseburger and vegetarian chili (ask for cheese on the side). They had homemade desserts as well.
The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful but the food was mediocre. Erick had meatloaf which he though was good but it was meat in loaf format so how good could it have been? I had pasta which was super oily but edible. A salad bar was a nice touch and dessert was good. There was free entertainment from a local banjo player. The bartender at the lounge was slooooow and easily distracted....but the bar did have saddle seats which was amusing.
